The D-Compact was developed as the "little brother" to the D-Contact specifically to trigger bites in these high-pressure environments. It's one size smaller than the original D-Contact, featuring a profile and swimming action that entices even the most cautious fish to strike.
This compact size has now become the standard for urban fisheries in Japan. Its effectiveness translates equally well to pressured trout streams and small rivers abroad.
2. Inherits the D-Contact's "almost stops but doesn't quite stop" action that triggers strikes
One of the D-Compact's most appealing features is its inheritance of the D-Contact's signature "almost stops but doesn't quite stop" movement. After a twitch, instead of coming to a dead stop, it glides forward ever so slightly with a subtle body roll that creates a flickering effect. This movement becomes the trigger that convinces fish they can eat it. Lures that stop completely are easier for fish to identify as fake. That's why the subtle lingering movement is so effective.

Even in fast currents or shallow areas, the D-Compact bites into the water without losing its action. This allows it to stay underwater even when fished downstream, making it user-friendly and able to maintain its depth in any current.
5. Two sizes to maximize your catch rate
As of 2025, the D-Compact lineup includes the 38mm D-Compact 38 and the 45mm D-Compact 45. The D-Compact 45 dives to about 100cm (slightly deeper than the D-Contact does), while the D-Compact 38 reaches 60cm.
6. Choose D-Contact or D- Incite when casting distance is priority
While the D-Compact inherits the actions of both the D-Contact and D- Incite and excels in high-pressure situations, its smaller size does limit casting distance. When fishing wider streams, don't hesitate to switch to the D-Contact or D-Insight to cover more water and increase your chances of encountering fish.
